It's bob here. Did you use the network on the Beagleboard XM?
I can't seem to do anything network related and have found a number of comments on line suggesting that the Ubuntu builds for the XM don't have functional networking via the onboard adapter. I've been trying to run some sudo apt-get commands.
hi Dingo_aus, I'm a new face that i want to buy a beagle-xm or pandaboard. Could you tell me how can i order pandaboard in digi-key? Because of the quantity available of pandaboard is 0, i am worried about the order form postponed for a long time.
Currently the Pandaboards are on back order. If you go into digi-key and search for "pandaboard" you will find it. Once in there, try to add 1 unit to your order and then click on "lead time" for an estimate of when they will ship.
Currently it says "contact Digi-Key" instead of a date.
Last I heard on the mailing lists the back order was about 15 weeks. They are just so popular and the manufacture process is done in batches so they can't just build 10 today and 10 tomorrow, they take over a whole facility and pump out a large run.
That said the BeagleBoard and PandaBoard are very similar and if I was in your shoes, I'd grab a BeagleBoard-xM and start playing knowing that as soon as I can get a PandaBoard all those skills will transfer straight across.
Yes, that second post is exactly what I was going to suggest.
If you need to set a static IP address for you BeagleBoard-xM, see this post: http://adventuresinsilicon.blogspot.com/2011/02/pandaboard-setting-static-ip.html
It is difficult getting hold of this type of equipment. I would get in contact with this company. They provide something that no one else can offer. Analog IC Design

Thanks Bob
sudo ifconfig -a
sudo dhclient usb1
I thought that I'd already done that with no success but it's working now.
